Muhammad Faisal Hilmi Gunawan is an Information Security and Data Protection professional with expertise in privacy compliance, information security governance, and regulatory advisory. With a strong academic background in International Law and Law & Technology, he combines legal insight with technical understanding to help organizations strengthen data governance frameworks and meet international compliance standards.
Currently serving as an Associate Consultant at Privasimu, Faisal has advised leading organizations across the banking, manufacturing, and technology sectors on data protection compliance and information security initiatives. His work includes supporting the development and implementation of Data Protection Compliance Programmes, privacy maturity assessments, cross-border data transfer procedures, and governance frameworks aligned with national and international standards.
Faisal has contributed to strategic compliance projects for major institutions such as PT Bank Syariah Indonesia, PT UOB Indonesia, PT Semen Indonesia Tbk, and PT Petrokimia Gresik Tbk. His experience includes conducting data protection gap assessments using Komdigi standards, supporting ISO/IEC 27001 advisory engagements, and assisting organizations in improving privacy maturity and operational resilience through structured governance and risk management practices. In addition to his consulting work, Faisal contributed as part of the AI Roadmap Team at Komdigi, where he co-authored a national report on Indonesia’s Artificial Intelligence policy, focusing on ethical AI governance, regulatory readiness, and responsible data use.
